BSL: Management appeals to prevent plant accidents adopting behavioral based safety


Bokaro: An awareness program on ‘Behavioral Based Safety’ was organized at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a unit of Steel Authourity of India Limited (SAIL) here on Saturday. Safety of employees always remained a priority for the steel major. The program was organised by Department of Safety Engineering at HRD centre of BSL.

Chief of Communications, BSL, Manikant Dhan said that officials explained the benefits of adopting behavioral based safety to the participants. Highlighting the importance of behaviour based safety, Chief General Manager, CRM Sanjay Kumar asked participants to adopt its core principles.

The keynote speaker, General Manager (Water Management) A. Vishwas, through a presentation, gave detailed information about the working of behaviour based safety to the participants, besides he also acquainted them on how to fill the online supervisor card. Senior officials appealed to the employees to help in preventing accidents by adopting behavioral based safety.

In the past years, BSL plant has registered many accident cases in which a few of the contract labours died and some sustained injuries. Director incharge, BSL, Amarendu Prakash has directed senior officials, especially those deployed in plant to keep safety of workers in priority. Responsibility will be fixed on the concerned official if any lacunae is found in this regard. Management will also intensify awareness campaign on safety to sensitise officials and employees working in the shop floor in the plant.
