Chinmaya ‘Smile Back’ initiative empowers bright, underprivileged students in Bokaro


Bokaro:  The Chinmaya Alumni Association, through its Smile Back program, organised a talent nurturing competition examination aimed at supporting bright students hailing from economically needy backgrounds. Students ranging from classes 7th to 10th in both government and private schools within Bokaro district participated fervently in this competitive endeavour.

Dr. Amarendra Narayan Bharat, the program coordinator, elaborated that this initiative was tailored to uplift talented students from underprivileged backgrounds, operating in two distinct phases. Following a written examination, 80 students excelling therein would advance to the subsequent interview phase, with the top 40 candidates ultimately receiving accolades.

The program extends financial aid to successful students in various classes, with sums ranging from Rs 4000 to Rs 7000, contingent upon the class level, upon submission of valid bills for educational materials or course enrollment. Dr. Amarendra Narayan Bharat said that this initiative aims to cultivate aspirations among children while mitigating financial barriers to education.

Over 600 economically disadvantaged students participated in the written examination.
