Devotees observe ‘Kharna’ on the second day of Chhath Puja


Bokaro: Kharna Puja was observed on Tuesday, the second day of Chhath Puja. On this day, the devotees observe a fast for the entire day. As the evening approaches, the earthen stove is used to prepare the prasad of jaggery kheer. As the puja concludes, the jaggery kheer is eaten by the devotees and distributed as prasad. It is on the fifth day of Shukla paksha in Kartik month.

The devotees visit the nearest ghat the next day. Arghya is offered to the setting sun after Kharna. Devotees reach the ghat at sunset and sunrise with all their belongings. They offer prayers to Surya Dev and Chhathi Maiya. The devotees offer Arghya to the sun with milk and water.
