Bokaro: Coaching classes get good response from students, offline classes yet to begin in prominent private schools


Bokaro: While coaching institutes in the town reopened with good strength of students on Monday, offline classes are yet to be started in many private schools here. Annual examinations going online in the majority of CBSE schools made students remained at their homes. However, government schools that started physical classes had very poor attendance on the first day.

The fear of resurgence in Covid-19 cases also made parents keep their children safe at home. The district education officer (DEO), Neelam Ileen Toppo said “of the 1560 government schools across the district, offline classes resumed in 105 high schools and about 500 middle schools. However, on the first day, the student’s attendance in classes was not satisfactory, especially, in urban areas”.

She added, “schools in rural areas recorded about 50 percent attendance of students while only 20 percent students attended the class in government schools situated in towns”.  The teachers in almost all the government schools before beginning the class made students aware of wearing masks and maintain physical distance to remain safe from the virus. The school management sanitized the school premises and classrooms.

Almost all the private schools claimed that their offline classes will begin once after the completion of annual examinations. Secretary of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Mahesh Tripathi said the online final exams have started for all the classes except X and XII since 27th February and will last till 12th March. The offline classes will start after the results will be declared. Total compliance of COVID protocol as per government guidelines will be maintained.


DPS principal A S Gangwar also said “our online examinations are going on, so we are planning to begin offline classes for the students of Class 8 and above probably in next session”. The principal of Pentecostal Assembly School, Karuna Prasad has also declared that their offline classes will begin from March last or April first week once the annual examination gets over and a new academic session begins.

Meanwhile, Coaching centers have a nice opening today. Faculties invited students who in good proportion attended the classes with safety protocols. Rishi Jha proprietor of I Pec Coaching Institute said “the students and faculty members were happy enough to be back after a year. We feel motivated”.
