Bokaro: Taking education beyond the classroom and exposing students to global perspectives, international experiences and contemporary challenges, Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro, has undertaken another significant international initiative. Under the British Council’s prestigious Recognition of International Dimensions in Schools (RIDS) programme, DPS Bokaro has collaborated with Crestforth International School of Nigeria to work on the global issues of environmental conservation and sustainable transportation.

Students Participate in Awareness Activities
As part of the initiative, DPS Bokaro students actively participated in several activities, including an awareness rally, environmental awareness survey, poster-making, questionnaires and the preparation of logbooks. The activities aimed to develop a deeper understanding among students about environmental challenges and the need for sustainable practices.
Students Connect with Nigerian Peers
The highlight of the initiative was an engaging video interaction between students of DPS Bokaro and Crestforth International School of Nigeria. Connected across continents through digital platforms, students and teachers discussed their respective geographical and social contexts and exchanged ideas on practical measures and innovative approaches to promote sustainable and eco-friendly transportation in their countries.

Nigerian School to Share Its Projects
The international collaboration will continue in its next phase, with Crestforth International School of Nigeria sharing details of the activities and projects undertaken by its students with DPS Bokaro. The exchange is expected to further strengthen students’ understanding of global environmental concerns and encourage cross-cultural learning.
‘Green Wheels’ Rally Spreads Environmental Awareness
As part of the initiative, dozens of DPS Bokaro students participated in an awareness rally titled ‘Green Wheels’. Carrying posters, banners, placards and handwritten slogans, the students reached out to the public and highlighted the importance of using environmentally friendly modes of transportation and adopting sustainable practices in daily life.
Primary Wing Raises Awareness on Plastic Pollution
Another awareness activity under the RIDS campaign focused on the growing problem of plastic pollution. Students of the Primary Wing participated enthusiastically in poster-making and creative artwork to showcase the harmful impact of plastic pollution and encourage greater environmental responsibility.
Principal Highlights Collective Responsibility
DPS Bokaro Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar described the RIDS initiative as an important step towards building a greener, cleaner and healthier future. He emphasised that environmental protection is a collective responsibility and stressed the importance of sustainable transportation in creating a more eco-friendly world.
Global Collaboration Encourages Responsible Citizenship
The initiative provided DPS Bokaro students with an opportunity to connect with their peers in another country while exploring practical solutions to shared environmental challenges. Through such international collaborations, the school continues to promote global citizenship, environmental awareness and responsible action among students.
