Addressing Infrastructure and Manpower Needs
During the meeting, IG Dr. Michael Raj S gathered detailed information from the women SHOs about their requirements, including building improvements and manpower shortages. The SHOs expressed concerns about inadequate staffing, and the IG assured them that all issues would be resolved soon. By July this year, approximately 200 cases were settled in each Mahila Thana, where both parties preferred police intervention without filing an FIR. Focus on Student Safety and Public Awareness
The IG emphasised the importance of enhancing student safety by increasing patrols during school and college hours. He also directed that regular awareness campaigns be conducted in educational institutions. Female students should be informed about the police’s Shakti App and other emergency contact numbers, encouraging them to seek police assistance whenever necessary. Additionally, all police stations were ordered to expedite the resolution of pending cases, with a focus on maintaining the quality of investigations.
