Innovative briquette charging trial marks milestone at Bokaro Steel Plant


Bokaro: The Blast Furnace Department of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), in collaboration with SAIL-RDCIS, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully charging briquettes for the first time in Blast Furnace No. 01 of BSL on a trial basis. This groundbreaking endeavor marks a pioneering initiative within SAIL.

RDCIS and BSL have collaborated to develop briquettes utilising return sinter, sludge, and other fine waste materials from Bokaro Steel Plant. This innovation signifies a crucial stride toward enhancing the sustainability of iron-making processes.

Furthermore, this novel technology represents a noteworthy advancement in environmental management and resource optimisation within the steel manufacturing domain.

Under the leadership of Birendra Kumar Tiwari, Executive Director (Operations) at BSL, and A.K., CGM (Iron) at RDCIS, this project has been meticulously executed. Additionally, the implementation has been guided by M.P. Singh, Mistry and CGM (Blast Furnace) at BSL.

The successful trial involved the dedicated efforts of a collaborative team comprising various key personnel. Notable contributors include BK Behera, CGM (Sinter Plant) at BSL; Dhananjay Kumar, CGM (RMHP); M Roy, GM(BF) at RDCIS; Shyamsundar, GM (BF) at BSL; K Minj, GM(BF) at BSL; Adarsh Gupta, GM(SP); Anil Kumar, DGM(SP) at BSL; Santosh Kumar, DGM at RDCIS Bokaro; Manish Madhav, Manager(BF); Smita Toppo, Manager at RDCIS Bokaro; and Abhijit Das, Manager at RDCIS Bokaro. Their combined efforts have culminated in this remarkable achievement, showcasing the potential of collaboration and innovation in the steel industry.
