Maoists killed former ward member in Bokaro, Police launch anti-naxal operations


Bokaro: A 40-year-old former ward member was killed by Maoists at Naxal-affected Chutte Panchayat in the Chatrochatti police station area of Gomia block.  Maoists, brutally slit Sukhram Manjhi’s throat with a sharp weapon, leaving behind pamphlets at the crime scene that warned of dire consequences for those providing information to the police.

The shocking event occurred near an under-construction water tank close to Manjhi’s residence around 8 pm on Tuesday. Around eight Naxals were involved in the incident, said sources. SP, Bokaro, Priyadarshi Alok said search operations have been launched in the area to nab Maoists.

Deceased wife, Saraswati Devi, revealed that her husband ran a small ration shop in Danra Moad. He was returning home routinely closing the shop when the incident occurred. Family members, including elderly father Mahadev Manjhi and disabled mother Parvati Devi, expressed ignorance about Sukhram being a police informer.
