Bokaro: NDRF team on Sunday reached the spot from Ranchi to rescue four people who are trapped in BCCL mine subsidence under Amalabad Outpost of Bokaro district. The victims were illegally excavating coal from the abandoned mine when it collapsed.
The NDRF team inspected the site and discussed the rescue strategy with the police, BCCL, and administrative officials. “We are planning how to enter the mines since there was a lot of subsidence,” says NDRF inspector Virendra Singh Rathore.
NDRF also found it challenging to determine the exact location of the trapped people inside the mine, which was causing problems. On November 26, four people were trapped in sudden subsidence while doing illegal mining. BCCL’s rescue team conducted the rescue operation, but failed. The NDRF was later called to conduct a rescue operation by the Deputy Commissioner, Kuldeep Chaudhary.
Chandankyari, Amar Bauri said, “local residents are concerned about the people trapped in coal mines”.
