Bokaro: The Jharkhand unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday night seized 538 kg of marijuana (Ganja) from Subhash Chowk under Chandankiyari police station. The van in which marijuana was found was transporting ginger. Marijuana was kept hidden inside.
Two persons have been arrested in this connection. A motorbike rider was escorting the van, but he managed to flee from the scene. According to police sources, marijuana stock was being sent from Seemandhra, Vijaynagaram (Andhra Pradesh) to Dhanbad.
In ginger sacks, marijuana was hidden. The sacks contained 269 packets of marijuana when opened. Every packet contained two kilograms of marijuana. After receiving a tip-off about marijuana being transported from Andhra Pradesh to Dhanbad, the raid was conducted.
The NCB team stopped the pickup van at Subhash Chowk. An investigation is underway.
