Policemen’s association question Maoist surrender policy

Bokaro: Jharkhand Police Mens Association on Thursday questioned the surrender of Naxalites in the state. Zonal president of the Men’s Association, Rakesh Pandey said “Maoists who have surrendered so far have either been removed from the red outfit or have lost strength. To take advantage of the rewards given by the government, they surrendered”.

The bloodshed of the Naxalites is not hidden from anyone, but the government welcomes them. The government honors Naxalites by giving them money and garlands. On the other hand, no facilities are provided for police personnel who are killed or injured during a Naxalite operation.

Pandey said, “Policemen fight against Naxalites with passion, but they lack basic facilities. In case the government can make a new policy on surrendering extremists, why not for the police? If Maoists are welcomed on stage and given benefits, why cannot martyred policemen’s family be offered similar facilities? These talks are taking place between policemen”.

He said that the association would be compelled to launch an agitation if basic facilities were not provided to the jawans.
