Saraswati Puja: School students and teachers offer Pushpanjali to learning goddess


Bokaro: Sree Ayyappa Public School of the township celebrated Saraswati Puja with great pomp this year. Through worshipping and celebrating Basant Panchami, students and teachers took the blessings of Goddess Sarawati.

It was a great joy for many students in the town to see Saraswati Puja being celebrated after corona waves. Many educational institutions, where the festival was celebrated with masks and social distance, have reopened just a few days ago.

Students offered ‘pushpanjali’ to the goddess of learning, Devi Saraswati. Devotees observe fast, perform rituals, sing hymns and worship the deity on this day. On this day, students keep their books and pens around the deity’s feet and do not touch the books until the puja is over.

In beautiful saris, girls worshipped Goddess Sarawati. Their dresses symbolised our civilization and culture. The teachers also presented Bhajans. In addition to the distribution of Prasads after the puja, delicious bhog was also prepared.

SS Mahapatra, director of Ayyappa Public School, said the Saraswati Puja was completed with great pomp in the presence of all the teachers, school management, student council members, and staff.

Chairman Satish Nair, Vice-Chairman D. Shashi Kumar, and members of the Management Committee Mohanan Nair and Babu Raj attended on behalf of the school management. Principal P. Shailja Jaya Kumar, Vice-Principal Rajalakshmi and all the teachers of the school were present.
