Swab samples of students and teachers collected in school, testing drive begins in Bokaro


Bokaro: District health department begins Covid-19 testing in schools of the town from Thursday. On first-day swab samples of 249 students, teachers, and school staff were collected in Lakdakhanda Government School situated at Sector-2 of the township.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 testing has also been started at Bokaro Railway Station from today. The passengers, especially, those coming from Kerala in Dhanbad-Alleppy Express Special and Mumbai in Ranchi-LTTE Special are being monitored. Their swab samples were collected. The effort is laid to stop the second strain of virus from spreading here.
The students and teachers had given their swab samples without any hesitation in the school. In fact, students were keener on giving their swab samples. The teachers believed Covid-19 testing at schools is a good step to keep a check on coronavirus. The drive will be continued in schools, said Dr A K Pathak, civil surgeon.
In the coming 10 days, Covid-19 testing will be done in seven other government schools including Kasturba Ghandhi Girls Residential School, Chas. Later, testing drive will be conducted in private schools. Civil surgeon pointed that 229 cases of Covid-19 emerged from a single hostel in a school in Maharashta is really alarming. Necessary steps are taken to stop the second strain of virus from entering the district.
