Bokaro: A vibrant three-day dance workshop was inaugurated at the Tapovan auditorium of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Bokaro. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp by the school principal, Suraj Sharma, along with renowned dance experts Nirmalya Sharma, Ranjita Sharma, and Sonali Gupta. A welcome song greeted the dignitaries and participants, setting an uplifting tone for the workshop.
Principal Suraj Sharma highlighted the workshop’s unique focus, stating that it aims to enhance children’s interest, knowledge, and curiosity about the Indian classical dance form Kathak. He emphasised the importance of passing this rich heritage from one generation to the next. Kathak Guru Nirmalya Sharma, who led the sessions, shared insights into the centuries-old tradition of Kathak dance. Guru Nirmalya elaborated on the dance’s history and unique characteristics, explaining that regular practice fosters mental, physical, and emotional strength. He emphasized the power of dance as an art form that enables individuals to express their feelings and connect emotionally with the audience.
According to him, dance serves as a vital form of meditation, helping practitioners align their mind, body, and soul. The workshop was marked by high energy, with children actively participating and engaging with the art form.
