A Bokaro youth made electric motorbike using jugaad

Using Jugaad, a BCA student has designed and made an electric motorbike. Apoorva Singh is a third-year BCA student in Kolkata. In the first lockdown, he went to his house in Badi-Cooperative in Bokaro. During this time, he began watching YouTube videos about bike making and sparked an idea to create an electric bike which runs without fuel.

Apoorva said that gradually, using his jugaad system, he collected motors, batteries, wheels, tire bearings, and other materials from a nearby junkyard and garage. According to him, this bike is powered by two 48 volt 1000 watt batteries and can cover 80 kilometers with two riders on a single charge.

Apoorva took full advantage of his time and invested a total of 45,000 in about 6 months to make his bike. He now rides it. The bike has become talk of the town. According to experts, the bike of this capacity will cost around one lakh in the market. A normal electric scooter costs about 50,000. If the government promotes this, then along with the development of motor bike innovations, the common people will be able to obtain affordable bikes.
