Administration asks coal companies to submit accurate information about acquired land


Bokaro: District administration initiated to verify land that has been acquired by subsidiaries of Coal India Limited including Central Coalfield Limited (CCL), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) operational in the district.

 Land acquired by coal companies under the Coal Bearing Area (CBA) Act will be verified. The Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957 provides for the acquisition of land containing coal deposits. Government companies are doing coal mining activities in those acquired land.

Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kuldeep Chaudhary held a meeting with the General Managers of the coal companies and asked them to provide error-free details on how much land has been acquired by company and through which medium.
The companies should also tell how many villages are involved, nature of land, plot number, acres under its mining operation. It is necessary for companies to inform how much land is being acquired and where mining is taking place. In the district, there are 19 coal mines including open-cast and underground mines owned by CCL and BCCL .
