Bokaro: In a bid to promote peace, compassion, self-awareness and emotional well-being among students and teachers, Sree Ayyappa Public School, Bokaro, organised a Peace Education Programme aimed at encouraging participants to look beyond academic and professional pressures and discover the importance of inner peace.

The initiative was organised by Uday Kumar, Postal Inspector, Ranchi Division, under the Peace Education Programme available on the SWAYAM Plus Portal of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in association with The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF).

A key highlight of the programme was the presentation of the book “Swayam Ki Awaaz – Shor Bhari Is Duniya Mein Shanti Kaise Paayen”, authored by Prem Rawat. The book was presented to the school with the objective of promoting its message among students, teachers and the wider school community.
The programme was conducted in two phases. The first session was held for students on July 27, while a separate session for teachers was organised on August 6 in two slots to facilitate participation of the teaching fraternity.
The sessions included a video presentation based on Prem Rawat’s message, focusing on peace, dignity, compassion, self-awareness and harmonious living. Participants were encouraged to pause amid the pressures of everyday life, reflect within and understand how inner well-being can influence their thoughts, relationships and actions.
The school management extended its full support to the initiative. Chairman P Rajagopal appreciated the programme and said such initiatives could help members of the school community develop positive thinking, greater awareness, inner balance and strong human values.
Vice-chairmen Saseendran Karat and Mohanan R Nair, general secretary E S Suseelan, treasurer Balachandran and director-board member Suresh Kumar K A and Dr Suresh Babu were also present in support of the initiative. The programme was conducted under the guidance of school director Dr S S Mahapatra and principal P Shailaja Jayakumar. Dr Mahapatra described the programme as an important step towards holistic education. He emphasised that education should not be restricted to academic achievement but should also help students develop inner strength, emotional maturity and a sense of humanity.
Principal Shailaja Jayakumar stressed the need for creating a school environment where students and educators could cultivate peaceful minds, compassionate attitudes and a sense of responsibility.
The initiative also provided participants an opportunity to reflect on aspects of life beyond classrooms, examinations and professional responsibilities. The programme emphasised that peace is not merely the absence of conflict or an external condition, but an inner experience that can shape individual behaviour and social relationships.
The programme concluded with the message that meaningful education must go beyond imparting knowledge. It should also help nurture peaceful, compassionate, self-aware and responsible individuals capable of contributing to a more harmonious society.
