Bokaro: Sree Ayyappa Public School celebrates 35th Annual Sports Day with grandeur and zeal


The 35th Annual Sports Day of Sree Ayyappa Public School unfolded its vibrant festivities on Thursday within the expansive confines of its own stadium. The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by notable dignitaries, including P. Rajagopal, Chairman of the School Management Committee, along with other esteemed members of the board.

Inspirational Welcome and Opening Ceremony: 
The distinguished guests were accorded a warm welcome with saplings and badges, setting a tone of environmental consciousness. The event kicked off with the harmonious rendition of “Swagatam Shubh Swagatam.” Principal P. Shailaja Jayakumar, in her welcoming address, inspired participants with a call to self-belief, emphasising the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges.

A Kaleidoscope of Performances:
The youngest talents of classes I and II captivated the audience with a lively animal and poum-poum dance, while the children of Class V showcased a mesmerising flower drill, highlighting the beauty of nature and its conservation. Director S.S. Mahapatra extended greetings to the attending parents, setting a festive atmosphere.

Flag Hoisting and Torch Lighting:
The Chief Guest, P. Rajagopal, hoisted the school flag, symbolising the commencement of the sports extravaganza. Sports teachers and accomplished students, including Atulya Srishti, Nirman, Shankar Raj, Srikant, Rajwari Shahi, and Shaurya Bhardwaj, illuminated the sports complex with a torch relay, marking the official initiation of the games.

March Past and Oath of Sportsmanship:
A meticulous march past organised, showcased the discipline and unity of students from classes 9 and 11. The oath of sportsmanship, led by the sports achievers of 2023-24, emphasised the spirit of fair play and camaraderie.

Energetic Participation in Sports Events:

The sporting spirit echoed through various events, ranging from the 30-meter race for Pre-Nursery to Prep children, to the 4×100 meter relay for classes III to V. The young participants showcased their enthusiasm and determination in each competition, contributing to the vibrancy of the occasion.

Special Recognition for Parents: 
In a delightful twist, a Musical Chair competition was organized for parents, adding an element of joy to the proceedings. Soumya Tirkey emerged as the winner among parents, followed by Amita Kumari and Aparna Vardhan, who secured the second and third positions, respectively.

Medals and Recognition: 
The pinnacle of the event saw the distribution of 205 medals to deserving participants across various categories, recognising their exceptional achievements and dedication to sports. Vice Principal Rajalakshmi conveyed gratitude in the vote of thanks to all contributors.

Gracious Presence of School Staff: 
In addition to the dignitaries, the event was attended by in-charge Sumangala, Miss Vijaya Bhasin, Asha P. Kumar,  Sajeev S.,  Yogesh Kumar, and Sanjay Kumar, underscoring the collective commitment to the success of the Annual Sports Day.

Patriotic Closure: 
The festivities concluded on a patriotic note with all attendees joining in the singing of the national anthem, symbolising unity and pride in the achievements of the school’s sports day.
