Bokaro Steel Plant launches mission life campaign for environmental sustainability


Bokaro: In a collaborative effort with the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB), the Environment Protection and Sustainability Department of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has initiated a campaign under the banner of Mission Life: Lifestyle for Environment Mantra.

As part of this endeavor, a workshop titled “Green Hydrogen and De-Carbonization by Energy Efficient Technologies” was recently held at the Human Resource Development Center of Bokaro Steel Plant.

The workshop saw the participation of experts from various renowned companies who delivered presentations on cutting-edge topics. Krishna Mehta from Perfect Infraengineers Ltd. shared insights on utilizing solar panels for air conditioning, while Saran KPK from Liku-Tech Environmental Solutions presented on the efficient management of effluent treatment plants.

Additionally, Dushyant Katare from M/s Finsen Ritter focused on the potential of green hydrogen. N P Srivastava, General Manager of Environment, delivered the welcome speech, setting the tone for the productive discussions that followed. Srivastava outlined SAIL’s action plan to achieve a net-zero environmental impact, offering valuable strategies for the industry.

The program’s chief guest, Sharad Gupta, emphasised the significance of collaboration between industries and regulatory bodies to enhance environmental outcomes. The guest of honor, MP Singh, CGM, Blast Furnace, encouraged participants to prioritize energy conservation, water conservation, and waste minimization.

Shri Manish Jalota, CGM (HRD), another distinguished guest, called for innovative approaches in eliminating single-use plastics, reducing waste, and adopting eco-friendly and healthy lifestyles.

The workshop witnessed the presence of Ashutosh Anand from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, along with his team. Representatives from various industries, including BPSCL, SAIL-Bokaro Steel Plant, and ESL Steel Limited, actively participated in the workshop, demonstrating a collective commitment to environmental sustainability.
