Chairman Amarendru Prakash aims to propel SAIL to the top No.1 company

Chairman of Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Amarendra Prakash, sets sights on making SAIL the leading company in his inaugural social media message. Emphasising the need to dream big for the next 70 years, he calls for collective efforts to fulfill this vision starting today.

Prakash believes that SAIL should measure its success not just in terms of million tonnes produced but also in becoming the number one company and family. Failing to dream big would be an injustice to the nation, given the abundance of resources and talent at SAIL’s disposal.

Prakash defines being number one as when others start learning from and recognizing your accomplishments. He emphasise the importance of excelling in plant operations, production, safety, techno-economics, and human resources to achieve this coveted position.

The chairman urges everyone to take personal responsibility and refrain from merely benchmarking themselves internally. Instead, they should compare themselves to the top-ranked company in the country, fostering a collaborative environment in pursuit of SAIL’s aspiration to be number one.

Highlighting the consistent improvement in performance over the years, Prakash calls for an acceleration of progress. He envisions SAIL’s ten townships ranking among the top 25 cities in the country and also highlighted the significance of happiness, skill development, and safety for contract workers. By becoming a company that others look up to, SAIL will solidify its position as the premier organisation.

Prakash advocates for a shift towards smart work, complementing hard work, and encourages employees to showcase their abilities and contribute ideas that drive the company forward. He warns against letting ego hinder progress and stresses the importance of nurturing talent regardless of seniority.

The chairman also recognises the significant role played by contract laborers, emphasising the responsibility to ensure their safety and well-being. Prakash said to employees to ask themselves whether the laborers working alongside them are safe. He highlights the need to prioritise the safety of contract workers and empower them to refuse unsafe tasks. By providing support, encouragement, and intelligence to these laborers, SAIL can eliminate unsafe practices and achieve its goal of becoming the number one company.

Chairman Amarendra Prakash’s message signifies his determination to make SAIL the leading organization. By fostering a collective dream, promoting continuous improvement, and prioritizing the well-being of all stakeholders, he aims to propel SAIL to the pinnacle of success.
