Bokaro: A green victory for Delhi Public School, B. S. City, on this World Environment Day as they clinch the coveted ‘Green School of the Year – India’ Award at the Global Education Summit and Awards held in Dubai.
The school received the award among other award winners and delegates from 26 countries. 985 nominations were received from 57 countries and only 70 nominations were selected for awards. H.E. Mr. Jasmin Delvic, Consul General, Consulate General of Republic of Croatia in Dubai was present as Guest of Honour.
Mr. László Márton, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Hungary, Abu Dhabi, was present as a Special Guest. Mr. Khanlar Pashazde, Vice-Council, General Consulate of Republic of Azerbaijan in Dubai, was present as a Special Guest.
The event was a perfect blend of appreciation, global networking, sharing of knowledge and peer learning. AKS Education Awards recognized DPS Bokaro for its extraordinary strides in slashing environmental footprint and championing sustainable practices. From waste reduction to energy efficiency, water conservation to eco-friendly initiatives, DPS Bokaro has etched its name with an unwavering commitment to a greener tomorrow.
Underlining their exceptional dedication to sustainability and environmental education, DPS Bokaro launched a range of green initiatives that pack a punch. Harnessing the power of the sun, the school installed solar panels to generate renewable energy.
They set up a cutting-edge paper recycling unit, formed a formidable Green Brigade to safeguard the environment, and even installed bird feeders to invite our feathered friends. Not stopping there, the school adopted organic and nutrient-rich soil for their thriving gardens, initiated the “Save Soil” movement, and ensured environmental issues take center stage in their curriculum, covering climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable living.
