Bokaro: The Cultural Week ‘Dharohar 2026’ at Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro began on a melodious note as young musicians enthralled the audience with their remarkable performances during the Inter-House Group Tabla and Solo Song Competition.
Students from all six Houses participated in the event with immense enthusiasm, showcasing their dedication towards preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural traditions. The programme turned into a vibrant celebration of rhythm, melody and harmony, where budding artists presented soulful musical performances.
Jhap Taal and Ghazal performances highlight classical brilliance
The Group Tabla Competition was based on ‘Jhap Taal’, a ten-beat rhythmic cycle from Indian classical music, providing students an opportunity to demonstrate their command over traditional percussion. The Solo Song Competition featured the theme ‘Ghazal’, where young vocalists impressed the audience with their expressive singing and musical depth.
The performances reflected the students’ commitment towards learning and presenting the diverse forms of Indian classical and semi-classical music. The competition was judged by Abha Kumari Jha, Priyanka and Mayank Kumar Bhakta from the Primary Wing of DPS Bokaro, who evaluated the participants on various aspects of musical presentation.
Jamuna House shines in Tabla, Shambhavi and Anchal share top honour in singing
In the Solo Song Competition, Shambhavi Jha from Jamuna House and Anchal Pathak from Sutlej House jointly secured the first position. Arthit Singh of Chenab House and Maitreyee Sinha of Ganga House shared the second position, while Piyush Mallik from Jhelum House bagged the third position.
In the Group Tabla Competition, Jamuna House emerged as the winner with an outstanding performance. Jhelum House secured the second position, while Chenab House finished third.
Principal applauds students’ dedication and talent
DPS Bokaro Principal Dr A. S. Gangwar appreciated the exceptional performances of the students and congratulated them for their dedication and hard work. He encouraged the participants to continue regular practice and strive for continuous improvement in their respective fields.
Addressing the students, Dr Gangwar said that every day brings a new opportunity and one should utilise it effectively. He emphasised that meaningful and positive transformation can only be achieved through sincere efforts and a constant pursuit of excellence.
The event marked a significant beginning to ‘Dharohar 2026’, reflecting DPS Bokaro’s commitment towards nurturing creativity, cultural awareness and artistic excellence among students.
