Four people were killed, 11 injured in road accident in Bokaro


Bokaro: Four people were killed in an accident that occurred on the National Highway (Bokaro-Ranchi) near Petarwar on Sunday night. The incident occurred when a group of 15 to 20 youths, riding on two autos, returned to their village Lukaiah after celebrating picnic. At the same time, a truck which was coming from the opposite direction hit both the autos.

Following the incident, the angry villagers blocked the road in the night, demanding compensation, which was lifted on Monday morning after intervention of police.

Sources said,  four people were killed while eleven others sustained serious injuries in the incident. The injured were taken to Community Health Center Petarwar from where they were referred to higher medical centers in Bokaro and Ranchi. Those who died in the accident include 18-year-old Ravi Kumar, son of Adeshpal of Petarwar block office, Sunny alias Haider Ali, Sehban Ansari and Ehsan Ansari.

Local people said that the youths had gone to Parasnath for a picnic. As they returned, they parked their auto near their village to descend and return home. A speedy truck then hit the vehicle. People who stepped off the auto were saved, while those who stayed in the auto became victims of the accident.

Ekram Ansari, Sajjad Ansari, Mithu Munda, Dilkhush Ansari, Sahil Ansari, Firoz Ansari are among the injured. Everybody’s condition is serious. On getting information about the incident, Gomia MLA  Lambodar Mahto reached the hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured.

According to local people, the accident took place near the victim’s house. The truck fled from the scene following the accident. When the truck hit the auto, it dragged it 300 meters, resulting in  death of three youths there in the auto on spot.
