Bokaro: The vibrant colours of art, tradition and global harmony came alive at Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro as the four-day annual cultural festival ‘Dharohar 2026’ concluded with a spectacular Inter-House Dance Competition at the Ashwaghosh Kala Kshetra. The grand finale celebrated the theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ by bringing together diverse cultures of India and the world through the universal expression of dance.
The closing ceremony witnessed mesmerising performances by all six Houses of the school, where students creatively blended Indian classical dance forms with international styles. The event was graced by Ms. Rajashree Banerjee, ED (HR), BSL and Pro-Vice Chairperson, Board of Management, DPS Bokaro Steel City, as the Chief Guest.
A spectacular journey from Kathakali to Flamenco
The stage turned into a global cultural arena as Ganga House presented a unique fusion of Kerala’s Kathakali with China’s Shanziwu fan dance. Jamuna House captivated the audience with Manipuri dance from Northeast India combined with Russia’s famous Kalinka dance.
Raavi House showcased the elegance of Tamil Nadu’s Bharatanatyam along with Sri Lanka’s Kandyan dance, while Chenab House impressed everyone with a dynamic blend of North Indian Kathak and American Salsa. Sutlej House presented Kerala’s graceful Mohiniyattam paired with Nepal’s traditional Maruni dance, whereas Jhelum House concluded the competition with a powerful fusion of Odisha’s Odissi and Spain’s Flamenco.
Art and culture inspire creativity among students
Appreciating the performances, Chief Guest Rajashree Banerjee congratulated the students and highlighted the importance of art and culture in shaping personality and creativity. She said that cultural activities help students stay connected with their roots while developing confidence and artistic abilities.
DPS Bokaro Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar praised the dedication of students, House Wardens and tutors for presenting a memorable cultural spectacle. He said the fusion of Indian and international dance forms reflected the message of universal acceptance, unity and brotherhood.
Jamuna and Chenab Houses emerge winners
The competition was judged by Neelam Singh, Pratibha Singh and Preeti Mishra. Jamuna and Chenab Houses jointly secured the first position in the Group Dance Competition, while Ganga and Sutlej Houses bagged the second position. Raavi and Jhelum Houses finished third.
In the Inter-House Group Song Competition, Sutlej House claimed the top position, followed by Chenab and Jhelum Houses in second place and Jamuna and Raavi Houses in third. The programme was anchored by Aradhya Silky, Ritika Gupta and Rudra Kumar. Head Girl Swarnim delivered the welcome address, while Head Boy Ishaan Ashwin proposed the vote of thanks, bringing the curtains down on a memorable celebration of culture and creativity.
