GGPS celebrated annual athletic meet with pomp and show


Bokaro: Guru Gobind Singh Public School (GGPS), Sector 5/B Bokaro celebrated its annual athletic meet on Thursday in its premises with great joy and camaraderie. As Chief Guest, sub-divisional officer (SDO), Chas, Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat (IAS) was present, while Kumar Rahul, GGPS Alumini, Regional Head, Union Bank of India was the Guest of Honour.

After the invocation to the Almighty, a sapling presentation and group song followed. The gathering was addressed by Principal of GGPS, Bokaro, Soumen Chakraborty. He said that games and sports contribute greatly to an individual’s ability to develop their personality. According to him, winners have won, but those who failed to make it were just as capable, and the fraction of seconds has made all the difference. One of the most interesting aspects of the event was the March Past, a riot of colors and vibrancy splattered across the field.
With the oath administered by the sports captain, the students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way. The Tiny Tots enthralled the audience with their energetic drill performance. The air was filled with cheers and encouragement as soon as the races began. The Chief Guest motivated the participants and the winners by facilitating them and explained how education should be inclusive, holistic, and enjoyable.
GGES Secretary, S.P. Singh, also motivated the students by distributing prizes and reminding them that a healthy body ensures a healthy mind. The President of GGES, Tarsem Singh, encouraged a spirit of sportsmanship by felicitating the teaching and non-teaching staff for their enthusiastic participation. He added that academics and sports are equally significant. It keeps the body and mind fit.
Bhangra performance added vigor to the programme. As well as the overall winner, Pawan House won the March Past competition. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Shilpi Chakraborty, Vice Principal, Senior Wing.
