Bokaro: MGM School, Bokaro, once again emerged as the dominant force in school-level judo, retaining the CBSE East Zone Boys’ Judo Championship title for the third consecutive time.

The championship, organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at Subhash Chandra Academy, Cholapur, Varanasi, from August 11 to 15, saw MGM’s judokas put up an impressive show, collecting 10 gold, seven silver and six bronze medals to secure the overall championship.
Strong show across age categories
In the Under-11 category, Param Tudu won gold, while Shaurya Pratap Singh secured silver and Shaurya Singh bagged bronze.

The Under-14 contingent added four gold medals through Kumar Rudraksh, Alok Kumar, Anshu Kumar and Ayush Patel. Ayush Kumar Singh also contributed a bronze.
In the Under-17 category, Suryakant clinched gold. Naman Rishi, Shubham Kumar, Arpit Toppo and Ritvik Verma won silver medals, while Rahul Kumar and Gaurav Anand secured bronze.
The Under-19 judokas further strengthened MGM’s position, with Aman Kumar, Rajveer Singh, Sarvagya Kesari and Ayush Kumar winning gold. Jayant Kumar and Ayan Azhar took silver, while Satyam Kesari and Rishikant Kumar secured bronze.
17 judokas qualify for nationals
The medal haul also secured national-level berths for 17 MGM School students. The gold and silver medallists have qualified to represent the school at the CBSE National Judo Championship, scheduled from September 27 to October 4 at Minerva Public School in Haryana.
The qualification has added another milestone to MGM School’s growing record in school-level judo and will give the young athletes an opportunity to compete against the country’s top CBSE judokas.
School management congratulates winners
School principal Dr Fr. Joshi Varghese, vice-principal Rakhi Banerjee, headmistress Sapna Joshi and members of the School Managing Committee congratulated the students for their performance and appreciated their discipline and dedication.
The school’s physical education faculty, including Meenakshi Kumari, Saurabh Kumar, Mohsin, Vandana Kumari and Poonam Kumari, also praised the young judokas and wished the national qualifiers success in the upcoming championship.
