Safety habits are beneficial not just at work, but throughout life: NL Vhatte, CEO, ESL


ESL Steel limited, a Vedanta group company, celebrated 51st National Safety Day 2022 on its Siyaljori plant site in the Chandankyari Block of Bokaro. Over 2000 participants from different departments and areas of expertise attended events organized by the Safety Team on this occasion.

This year’s National Safety Day theme was ‘Nurture young minds to develop safety culture’. ESL Safety Team organized various contests, from quizzes to drawing competitions, to engage and generate awareness among employees and their families. There were overall 12 events organised.

To maintain a 100% safe environment for its employees, ESL has undertaken various initiatives and projects to ensure our commitment to a ‘Zero Harm Organization’.

CEO of ESL, NL Vhatte, said on the occasion: “Safety is our top priority at ESL. By generating awareness and committing to work safely and end unsafe activities, we can ensure the well-being of not only our colleagues, but also of our friends and families. Safety habits can benefit individuals not only at their workplace, but also throughout their lives. We need to learn to say ‘NO’ to unsafe jobs and embed a zero-tolerance policy for safety. Let us work together to make safety our number one priority and achieve our vision of zero harm.”

Anrit Mukherjee (Head, Central Engineering), Nitesh Nirala (Director, Iron Zone), Ravi Ranjan (Director, Steel Zone), Tapesh Nashkar (Director, DIP Zone) and Sumit Burman (CSO) were also present in the event. With such events and activities, ESL reinforces its commitment to ‘Transform for Good’.
