Vaccine shortage slows down Bokaro’s vaccination campaign, only 94 thousand people take the second dose

Bokaro: Bokaro’s vaccination drive is slowed down because of vaccine hesitancy and shortage. Due to its slow rate of vaccination, the third wave of Covid-19 likely to hit in October may prove difficult to combat.

Till yet, about 4.28 lakhs residents have taken Covid-19 vaccination so far in the district. Civil Surgeon, Dr Ashok Kumar Pathak said “a total of 4,28,181 eligible beneficiaries have been vaccinated, which includes the first dose 3,33,290 and the second dose 94,891”.

However, the number of people getting vaccinated is very less, if compared to the population of Bokaro, which is 20.62 lakhs including males and females are 1,072,807 and 989,523 respectively. In the majority of vaccination centres, the vaccination drive has been suspended for the past few days due to a shortage of vaccines.

There are 53 vaccination centres in the district. The vaccine is out of stock in all the centres. Dr Ashok Kumar Pathak said they will get the vaccine soon from headquarter.
