Weather conditions force few private schools in Bokaro to change timings before government directive


Bokaro: The Jharkhand government on Wednesday evening directed all private and government schools to revise their class timings in view of the ongoing heatwave-like condition in most parts of the state. However in Bokaro many prominent private schools have already changed their timing for relief of children.

Keeping in view of the weather condition, Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro has changed the timing from April, 11. DPS announced its classes from 6 am-12 noon from class 6 and above, 7 am to 10.50am for prep to V and 8.10 to 10.50 for nursery, circular stated.

MGM Higher Secondary school has also changed its classes timing from 6.30 – 11.30 am and second group 8.30- 12.30 noon, said FR. Reji C. Varghese, principal. Meanwhile Pentecostal School Assembly also shifted its class timing to 6.30 to 10.30 1st shift, 7.30 to 11.30 2nd shift and 8.30 to 12.30 3rd shift due to rising temperature, confirmed Danial Prasad, director.

Of the private schools, Shree Ayyappa Public School supposed to be the first which changed the class timing with onset of summer. Director, S S Mahapatra said “School timing has been changed from 1st April 2022 to 30th June 2022. 6am-11am for standard 8-12. 7am-10am for PreNursery to standard 2 and 8am-12noon for standard 3-7”.

Keeping in mind the soaring temperature (41 degree celcius), now some private school managements are working on revising the class timings for kindergarten, middle, and senior sections. These schools will change their class timings from Monday now as the mercury level continues to rise throughout the state.

However the two – Chinmaya Vidyalaya and Guru Gobind Singh Public School (GGPS)- are among those schools which are yet to change the timing. They have planned to do it from next week, said sources.

State education minister Jagarnath Mahto had also said “several parents in my constituency have recently approached me requesting to change school timing seeing the weather condition”. Few incidents were reported in some schools were students fainted or fell sick in school due to heat wave.
