Bokaro: Leadership is earned through trust, responsibility and service, not merely by holding a position. Reinforcing this message, DPS Bokaro celebrated its Investiture Ceremony 2026 by combining democratic values with student leadership, as representatives were elected through a mass electronic voting process involving students from Classes VI to XII.
E-Voting Promotes Democratic Participation
The initiative, held as part of the school’s Ruby Jubilee session (2026–27), sought to familiarise students with the democratic process while encouraging them to embrace leadership founded on accountability and public service.
Chief Guest Leads the Investiture Ceremony
The ceremony began with the ceremonial welcome of the chief guest, Shailendra Kumar Sinha, IPS, Inspector General of Police, North Chotanagpur Zone, Bokaro, who was received with a skating performance before presiding over the investiture. Along with Principal A.S. Gangwar, he conferred badges and sashes on the newly elected School Council members, who pledged to uphold the school’s motto, “Service Before Self.”
Student Council Takes Charge
The newly elected council includes Head Boys Ishaan Ashwin and Safal (Class XII), Head Girls Anushka Arya and Swarnim (Class XII), Vice Head Boy Suvarn Agarwal (Class XI), Vice Head Girls Arya Jha and Anwesha Sharma (Class XI), Literary Secretaries Shruti Shandilya and Varsha Singh, Cultural Secretary Vartika Dubey, Sports Secretaries Mridul Aman and Tri Nayona, along with several deputy office-bearers. The school also introduced new portfolios, including Discipline Secretary and Cyber Secretary, reflecting the evolving responsibilities of student leadership in the digital era. Captains, vice-captains and prefects for all six houses were also inducted.
IG Inspires Students to Aim Higher
Addressing the students, Shailendra Kumar Sinha urged them to value discipline, perseverance and time management as the foundations of success. “Time, hard work and commitment are the greatest assets in life. Always be willing to go the extra mile to achieve your goals. The remarkable achievements of DPS Bokaro are a reflection of the dedication and potential of its students,” the IPS officer said.
Principal Calls Leadership a Responsibility
Principal Dr A.S. Gangwar described leadership as a responsibility rather than a privilege, encouraging the council members to lead with empathy and integrity. “True leadership is not about authority but about inspiring others through teamwork, responsibility and a positive attitude. These badges represent hard work, sincere initiative and a genuine commitment to serve the school, society and the nation. I hope our young leaders grow into responsible citizens who lead with vision, humility and selfless service,” he said.
Preparing Responsible Leaders of Tomorrow
The ceremony highlighted DPS Bokaro’s continued emphasis on experiential learning, demonstrating that classrooms can also become training grounds for democratic participation, ethical leadership and nation-building.
