JSCA and BSL to sign MOU for International cricket stadium in Bokaro


Bokaro: The Jharkhand State Cricket Association is all set to sign a lease agreement with Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) on June, 25 for the construction of International Cricket Stadium in Balidih of Bokaro.

The proposed stadium will not only change the face of sports in the state of Jharkhand by catering to the growing requirements of state and district players but will also place Bokaro at par on the sports map with the states having two international stadiums, said Secretary of JSCA.

It will also pave the way for organizing simultaneous preparatory, skill, conditioning camps for men and women cricketers which will give a boost to Cricket in the state of Jharkhand.

It was on May, 30, the joint team of JSCA, architects, MLA, Biranchi Narayan and senior BSL officials had inspected the proposed 20 acres of land for International Cricket Stadium at Balidih. As the second wave of Covid-19 showed a downtrend, the process of installation of stadium gained a pace here.  Then, JSCA officials from Ranchi also held a meeting with BSL director in-charge Amarendu Prakash in Bokaro Niwas and had thorough discussion on the matter.

Then BSL, Director-in-charge then in the meeting had handed over a copy of the terms and conditions related to transfer of proposed land for the stadium to JSCA officials. It is being told that BCCI has approved Rs 250 crores for the construction of the international cricket stadium. For which, JSCA has demanded 20 acres of land from BSL for the stadium.

JSCA had floated expression of interest (EOI) on June, 15. EOI clearly mentioned that “JSCA plans to construct an International Cricket Stadium at Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand”. JSCA also mentioned in EOI that there will be – “well laid out main ground with facilities, pavilions and spectators stand, practice pitches, offices, substation and DG room with diesel storage facility, pipeline system, pump house, High Mast illumination area, boundary wall, gates, parking areas, club house, staff quarters, etc”.
