31st District Level National Children’s Science Congress sparks young minds in Bokaro


The 31st District Level National Children’s Science Congress promises to be a platform for young scientists to explore and contribute to the world of science while fostering environmental consciousness and scientific curiosity.

Bokaro:  The 31st District Level National Children’s Science Congress, organised by the Society for Science under the patronage of the National Science and Technology Communication Council, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, commenced with great enthusiasm on Saturday, at the Guru Gobind Singh public School (GGPS), Bokaro.

The event set the stage for a stimulating and educational program designed to ignite the curiosity of young scientific minds. The chief guest, Rajan Prasad, Executive Director of P&A, Bokaro Steel Plant, in his address, motivated the young participants and shared valuable insights about science and the ecosystem.

This year, the NCSC’s main theme was “Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Wellbeing,” and it brought together 250 child scientists and teachers from 42 schools in the district.

One of the highlights of the inaugural event was a captivating group dance performance by exceptionally talented children. Their performance not only delighted the audience but also served as a reminder of the vital role children play in shaping the future and advancing scientific knowledge. The performance symbolised the event’s theme of environmental consciousness.

Secretary of GGES, Bokaro, S P. Singh, highlighted the Congress as a platform that enables children to engage in meaningful activities at the micro-level.

Following the mesmerising dance performance, Soumen Chakraborty, Principal of GGPS, Bokaro, extended a warm welcome and expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests. As the Organising President, Chakraborty conveyed his enthusiasm for hosting this prestigious event and emphasised the importance of nurturing young scientific minds and their pivotal role in addressing global challenges through scientific exploration.

The event also recognised the contributions of dedicated mentors with the presentation of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award to Soumen Chakraborty, Anjani Bhushan and Manisha Sharma, Vice Principals of DPS Bokaro. These awards were given in acknowledgment of their outstanding work in organising special science activities for students.

The inaugural ceremony of the 31st District Level National Children’s Science Congress 2023 combined tradition, symbolism, and excitement. The event featured informative and thought-provoking addresses from prominent speakers, including Rajendra Kumar, General Secretary of Science for Society, and Deepak Rai, Chief General Manager and Chairman of Science for Society, CRM. They highlighted the critical role of science in addressing societal needs.
