Nurturing Young Talents: Ayyappa’s fancy dress contest fuses creativity, spirituality and nature


Bokaro: A delightful blend of religion, spirituality, and nature unfolded during a recent fancy dress competition in Sree Ayyappa Public School Bokaro, where 145 students, ranging from Pre-Nursery to Class 1, participated, revealing their hidden talents. The event, held at Sree Ayyappa, not only brought out the creativity in the children but also contributed to the development of social, intellectual, and moral values.

School Director Dr. SS Mahapatra encouraged all the participating children, emphasising that such competitions foster creativity and equip children with the ability to become self-reliant while nurturing their moral qualities.

Guided by Principal P. Shailaja Jayakumar, the children enthralled the audience with their captivating performances, donning an array of attractive roles in various forms. Their outfits and presentations were not only adorable but also thoughtfully chosen. Parents couldn’t help but feel an immense sense of pride as they watched their children shine on stage.

The competition presented students with diverse themes, and the participants donned a wide array of costumes to reflect these themes. The creativity of the children shone through as they transformed into various characters, showcasing their imagination and enthusiasm. Some children depicted gods, while others took on the personas of animals and birds, bringing a touch of nature and the environment to the stage. Their colorful and vibrant costumes added to the overall charm of the event.

The students of different classes embraced their respective themes with enthusiasm. Pre-Nursery and Nursery children became adorable cartoon characters, birds, and angels. Class Prep students took on the roles of insects, Halloween characters, and tribal people of India. Class One children transformed into houses, Disney characters, and mythological figures. Their lively and engaging performances left a lasting impression.

A panel of judges, including Soni Sahay, Anamiki Kumari, and Sangomitra Chakraborty, had the challenging task of evaluating these remarkable presentations. Among the winners, Class Pre Nursery and Nursery saw Vaibhav Vardhan and Drishti Sinha securing the first prize, Shivangi Ghosh the second prize, and Ritika Sinha the third prize.

In Class Prep, Vanisha Kumari claimed the gold medal first prize, followed by Annaya Verma with the silver medal second prize, and Adhik Singh with the bronze medal third prize.

Class One winners included Amar Singh and Ellora with the gold medal first prize, Anam Ansari and Anika Kumari with the silver medal second prize, and Anvesha Sharma and Subham Kumar with the bronze medal third prize.

Sree Ayyappa Public School’s Management Committee, represented by Vice President Mohanan R Nair, Sashindran Karat, General Secretary ES Sushilan, and Board Directors Suresh Kumar K A and B Sajin, lauded the children for their participation. They emphasised that such competitions not only empower children to become self-reliant but also inculcate moral values and enhance creativity. Chairman Rajagopalan extended his blessings to the students, and Treasurer Babu Raj conveyed his best wishes to the young participants and their teachers.

Throughout the program, the audience applauded the participants, providing them with heartfelt encouragement. The event was well-attended by teachers and students, including Vice Principal Rajlakshmi, Incharge Sumangala, and Vijay Bhasin.
